Management and Reporting
At this point in the organizational evolution of the Senior Citizens
Consortium, we have an established management structure that has been put into
place for the purposes of stability and operational efficiency. Our SCC
organization officially became a year old in September of 2007, which was the
time that we received our corporate registration.
Annual Conference - Nashville, TN
In response to an overwhelming hue and cry to host a SCC conference, we
settled on the month of October and the city of Nashville, TN.
The conference was scheduled and a number of people indicated they wanted to
attend. However, as the time drew near, the participants committed to the
conference became smaller in number and eventually was reduced to just a very
few participants.
The actual conference was initiated on October 11 through 13 and we had five
people in attendance. Three were regular participants in the SCC
activities and two were guests. On Friday afternoon the Executive Director
and the Chairperson of the Board of Directors convened an official SCC business
meeting.
Proceedings of the SCC First Annual Conference Business Meeting
During this first ever SCC business meeting we
discussed whether the Senior Citizens Consortium was to be operated as a senior
citizens organization involved with advocacy issues and providing other benefits
to the organization's members, or whether it should simply become a place for
the member forum and its participants. We all agreed that the SCC
organization should become a fully functional and viable organization and that
we should take ever possible action to ensure that this happened.
We made several determinations about the
organization and made decisions to move forward. These determinations are
detailed in the SCC Annual Conference Report.
